Jet Orientation Course | JOC 737
For candidates who have already completed an approved MCC course, the Jet Orientation Course (JOC) provides further training in jet aircraft operations. We adapt the Jet Orientation Course (JOC) to meet the needs of this group of students, who have varying levels of experience and backgrounds. This ensures that all students have the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively operate a high-performance multi-crew jet aircraft. It offers the opportunity to take competence to new heights.
Minimum requirements and/or preferences
- at least a PPL(A)-IR or a CPL(A)-IR
- you have successfully completed ATPL(A) training with a theory certificate
- it is recommended that you have a MEIR
- You have successfully completed a MCC course with a certificate
Course structure and organization
Course structure and organization
In principle, the course starts every week on Monday, based on availability. Self-study prior to the practical training (simulator training) is a requirement. This consists of 16 training hours in a Boeing 737 simulator. The course duration is approximately 4 days, but this may vary depending on the number of participants. Approximately 4 days of simulator training, with one session per day, each two hours (4 hours per day in total). Each session starts and ends with a (de)briefing. After successfully completing the training, the student will receive the JOC certificate.

Basic objectives | key features of course
The course book covers both theory and practice with a focus on:
- Basic aircraft handling (raw-data, manual flight)
- Automation (incl. introduction to approaches and landings)
- LOFT scenarios (incl. comms with cabin crew)
- UPRT and asymmetric flight
- RTO exercises
- LOFT with SID, intercepts, manual approaches, go-around
Practical training | 16 hours – simulator training
16 flight hours, of which each participant alternately flies 8 hours as pilot flying (PF), and 8 hours as pilot monitoring (PM).
In the simulator, the participants are prepared for their role as PF and PNF. The simulator training is recorded (both image and sound); performance and progress can therefore be thoroughly analysed. Qualified instructors, certified as TRI and SFI, provide expert supervision throughout the training. All instructors have many years of experience in aviation education and training.
