Conversions

Are you a pilot in military service? You can find information here on how to convert your military license to an EASA license.

Converting a military licence to an EU license.

Did you obtain a license during your military service? Under European regulations, you can convert your license to a civilian EU pilot license. Exemptions from the requirements of Part FCL are granted on the basis of a credit report prepared by the Member State, in consultation with the Agency (Article 10 of EU 1178/2011). Three credit reports have been drawn up by CLSK (Ministry of Defence) in consultation with the ILT and EASA for the categories of jet, transport and helicopter pilots. See also the 3 RNLAF Credit Reports at the bottom of the page. Applications for a conversion to a (part-FCL) licence must be submitted to the Kiwa Register.

Each category has its own training path, and for each category a crediting system has been defined for the issuance of an EU licence (part-FCL). Part of this is a Bridge Course (theoretical knowledge). The candidate must take this bridge course at an Approved Training Organisation (ATO). The bridge course must be approved by the ILT. The Military Bridge Course variants offered by Orbit Groundschool are all recognised and have been designed to prepare for the national exam at the CBR. With Orbit Groundschool, you can be sure of quality training and a smooth transition to official recognition!

Course structure and organization

Course structure and organization

This theory training consists of a distance learning phase and a training of one day in Arnhem. This training, also known as Revision & Brush Up, is mandatory as required by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).

Self-study

The biggest advantage of this distance learning course is that you can study at your own pace and fit your studies in around your other commitments. The home-study programme is structured in weeks and daily tasks, in a way that makes it feasible to complete this module in about three months, with approx. fifteen study hours a week. This does not include the time needed to take the exams.

A military pilot can expect to complete the military bridging course in about three months. Of course you are in charge of your own study load. The completion time depends on how much time you can invest per week.

A simple work programme will guide you through all subjects and topics in each module during your self-study. Your study progress is monitored by means of mandatory progress tests. You will take the progress tests at various points throughout the course, at home on your own computer. Once you have finished a test, you can submit it to Orbit Groundschool for review with just a click of a button.
