Commercial Pilot – CPL(A/H)
Commercial Pilot – CPL(A/H)
Commercial Pilot CPL(A or H)
The CPL is the minimum level of pilot's license required to serve as pilot in command on aircraft up to 5700 kg or with less than 9 passenger seats. This is exactly the course you need if you want a career strictly as a professional pilot or flight instructor ('VFR-only'), advertising or sightseeing pilot who only wants to obtain the CPL and does not want to add an Instrument Rating (IR). This course is also applicable for a helicopter pilot with professional aspirations with flying only by sight.
Minimum requirements and/or preferences
- hold at least an ICAO recognized PPL(A) or PPL(H)
- preferably in possession of an EASA Class 1 medical certificate
- 17 years old when starting the course
- high school diploma or equivalent (secondary education)
- sufficient knowledge of English as well as mathematics and physics
Course structure and build-up
Course structure and build-up
Nowadays, the Revision & Brushup Course can be provided via our 'virtual classroom' environment through live webinars, where you can participate from your own home and no longer have to come to Arnhem.
In order to keep the theory course clear and to ensure that specific components connect well with each other, the teaching material, consisting of 13 theory courses, is divided into two modules:
1 Module
2 Module
1 Module
2 Module
After passing your first exams of module 1, you continue with module 2 through self-study. You then participate in the last classroom exam training in Arnhem and take the remaining exams.
Self study
The big advantage of our 'distance learning' CPL training is that you can organize your own pace and study time. The home study work program is structured schematically in weeks and daily tasks, whereby with approximately fifteen study hours per week, a turnaround time of about six months is easily feasible for both modules, excluding exams.
An average student completes the CPL theory course in about four to six months. Module 1 takes approximately fourteen weeks, module 2 approximately ten weeks. Of course you can determine your own study load. The lead time depends on your own time effort.
In the self-study, you are guided through all courses and subjects via a simple work program per module. Study progress is checked by means of compulsory 'progress' tests. The 'progress' tests are administered in a varying number of chapters and can be made at home on the computer. Then you can send the test online to Orbit Groundschool for checking with one push of a button.
